Brain scan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With increasing age, the risk of degenerative diseases increases, not only of the joints and blood vessels, but also of the brain. They become noticeable through concentration disorders and a decline in cognitive performance, mood swings and listlessness, but also through movement disorders and involuntary movements (e.g. trembling). In addition to suspected Alzheimer’s disease, many other brain diseases are possible – and many of them can be treated if they are detected early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With special MRI examinations of the brain, the most important neurodegenerative diseases can be detected early and reliably. It is particularly important to recognize circulatory disorders in large and small vessels (“vascular dementia”).<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Determination of the risk of stroke:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Most strokes could be avoided. They are caused by deposits in the heart, the main artery (aorta) and the arteries supplying the brain. They usually announce themselves through minor strokes or so-called transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), which are then followed by a massive stroke that leads to paralysis, loss of speech or death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Examination of the brain with MRI can visualize the precursors of a stroke – small changes in the brain substance that can occur unnoticed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Examination of the heart with cardio-CT\/MRI and MR angiography and the aorta as well as the carotid and vertebral aorta supplying the brain can detect a risk of stroke at an early stage. Although ultrasound examinations are often used for this purpose, they are in the area of the left atrial appendage, where most of the thrombi that trigger strokes form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seek advice. A stroke is preventable. Early detection of warning signs and appropriate medication can prevent strokes.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>
